Autism Assessments Details

Autism Assessment for Adults
It is quite common for adults to have gone through life without an autism diagnosis, feeling that in some ways they don't quite fit in. Some learn to manage their life in their own ways, although this can be hard work.
You will see a Specialist remotely for assessments, before you see Dr Rajpal.
What to Expect: Prior to your first appointment, you can download, or we will send out forms to be filled in, some of which require feedback from informants like your parents, or partners. The forms need to be completed and sent back before the clinical meeting.
These questionnaires will explore a person’s concerns and their Neurodevelopment background. If possible, please ask someone that has known you since you were a child to add to this form or a sibling or a partner. It is helpful for the assessment process if the person completing this form provides as much information as possible. Please return this form before your appointment, if possible.
Clinical Assessment:
We will start with interview which will feed into a semi-structured interview, involves determining the presence of current ASD symptoms. It is helpful if a parent or partner can be present for part of the assessment in order to provide further details.
We will the incorporate an intellectual assessment and discuss how you manage day to day issues. These assessments will be done online via Zoom. It is suggested that you be ready to spend 3-4 hours, with breaks, for these assessments.
In the case of other possible identified comorbidities, the clinician will use other scales including depression, anxiety, and OCD.
Outcome
The information collected throughout the assessment will be reviewed and considered against diagnostic criteria and a report will be shared with Dr Rajpal, with whom, you will discuss the findings.
